The Options Clearing Corporation (“OCC” or “we”) respects your expectations of privacy. This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) describes the ways in which we use information provided by individuals who use our conference website and/or mobile application, and by individuals who register for and/or attend our conference.
Collection and Use of Personal Information
We collect information about you (“Personal Information”) in a variety of ways when you interact with us, including:

  • Directly from you when you provide it to us, such as when you register for or attend the conference, sign up to receive communications from us or contact us by phone, email or otherwise;
  • Automatically through the use of cookies, server logs, and other similar technologies when you interact with our conference website and/or mobile application;
  • From other sources, including third parties (e.g., our business partners) or from publicly available sources (e.g., social media networks).
The following provides examples of the types of information that we collect in a variety of contexts and how we use that information.

We base the use and processing of this information on our need to process your conference registration and to fulfill our contract with you for this service. We also base the use and processing of this information on our legitimate interest in contacting you about the conference and other related services and products. We have a legitimate interest in contacting you about such matters. Finally, with respect to information we collect about requested accommodations, we use and process this information to comply with law, regulation, or governmental order which may require us to provide you with any necessary accommodations.
Cookies The Options Industry Conference website uses "cookie" technology. A cookie is an element of data that a website sends to the browser of a user of the website. We use certain cookies to make our website function correctly and operate as intended (“necessary cookies”).
We may also place tracking technology on our website that collects analytics, records how you interact with our website, or allows us to participate in behavior-based advertising. This means that a third party uses technology (e.g., a cookie) to collect information about your use of our website so that they can report analytics to us or provide advertising about products and services tailored to your interests. Employer and Job Title We may request and collect information such as your industry, job title or employer if you register, for example, when you register for the conference or sign up to receive communications from us. We base the use and processing of this information on our legitimate interest in understanding our users and providing tailored services and offerings.
Email Interconnectivity If you receive email from us, we may use certain tools to capture data related to when you open our message, click on any links or banners it contains and make purchases. We base the use and processing of this information on our legitimate interest in understanding how you interact with our communications to you.
Feedback/Support If you provide us feedback or contact us for support, we will collect your name and email address, as well as any other content that you send to us, in order to reply. We base the use and processing of this information on our legitimate interest in receiving, and acting upon, your feedback or issues.
Mobile Devices When you use the conference mobile app, we collect information from your mobile device such as unique identifying information broadcast from your device. We base the use and processing of this information on our legitimate interest in identifying unique users, and in understanding how users interact with the conference mobile app on their mobile devices.
Public Health and Safety In certain situations where a serious public health threat has been identified, we may collect information from individuals during the conference registration process or at conference events. This may include information such as body temperature, whether or not you are experiencing symptoms (e.g., Covid-19 symptoms), and whether or not you have been exposed possible public health risks. We base the use and processing of this information on our legitimate interest in protecting the health and safety of conference attendees. In some cases, we may also be required by law, regulation, or governmental order to collect and retain information related to issues of public health and safety.
Purchase Information All purchases from OCC, including payment of conference registration fees, are facilitated by third parties. These third parties may provide certain information to OCC regarding purchases made through their services. This information may include the purchaser's name and address, as well as the products or services purchased by the purchasers. This information is used to perform our contract to provide you with services or products you purchase from us.
Surveys When you participate in a survey, we collect information that you provide through the survey. If the survey is provided by a third-party service provider, the third party’s privacy policy applies to the collection, use, and disclosure of your information. We base the use and processing of this information on our legitimate interest in understanding your opinions and collecting information relevant to our organization.
Web logs & Website Interactions. If you visit the Options Industry Conference website, our web servers collect and store information with respect to: the name of the domain and host from which you access the Internet; the Internet Protocol (IP) address of the computer you are using; the browser software and operating system you are using; the date and time at which you access the Options Industry Conference website; and the address of the Internet site from which you linked directly to the site. We may also collect information about how you interact with the Options Industry Conference website, such as which links you click on, or information that you type into our online form. We base the use and processing of this information on our legitimate interest in monitoring our networks and the visitors to our websites. We also base the use and processing of this information on our legitimate interest in understanding how you interact with our website to better improve it.

In addition to the purposes described in the table above, we may use Personal Information for the following purposes:

For such other purposes as you may consent (from time to time). To the extent we maintain and use Personal Information in a deidentified form, we will not attempt to reidentify the information, except for the purpose of determining whether our deidentification processes satisfy our legal obligations.
How We Share Information
In addition to the specific situations discussed elsewhere in this Privacy Policy, we may disclose Personal Information in the following situations:
  • Conference Sponsors. We share contact information with conference sponsors for marketing purposes. Their use of your information is not governed by this privacy policy. If you do not wish to receive such offers, please email optionsconference@theocc.com indicating your wish to be removed from this list.
  • Affiliates. We may share information with our corporate affiliates (e.g., parent company, subsidiaries, joint ventures, or other companies under common control).
  • Service Providers. We may share your information with service providers. Among other things service providers may help us to administer our website, conduct surveys, provide technical support, and process payments.
  • Other Disclosures with Your Consent. We may disclose your information to other third parties when we have your consent or direction to do so.
  • Other Disclosures without Your Consent. OCC reserves the right to disclose user information in special cases, such as when we have reason to believe that disclosing this information is necessary to identify, contact, or bring legal action against someone who may be causing injury to or interference with (either intentionally or unintentionally) our rights or property, other users of the Options Industry Conference website, or anyone else that could be harmed by such activities. We may disclose Personal Information in response to a subpoena or when we believe in good faith that the law requires it or to respond to an emergency situation.
Note that if you communicate with us via e-mail, you may need to supply us with information relating to the purpose of your communication in order to enable us to provide you with a useful reply. If required by law, we will grant a request to delete information, but you should note that in many situations we must keep your Personal Information to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, or for another business purposes.
  • Objection to Certain Processing. You may object to our use or disclosure of your Personal Information by contacting us at the email address described below.
  • Promotional Emails. You may choose to provide us with your email address for the purpose of allowing us to send communications about OCC, the conference, or other promotional materials. You can stop receiving promotional emails by following the unsubscribe instructions in emails that you receive. If you decide not to receive promotional emails, we may still send you service-related communications.  
  • Revocation Of Consent. Where we process your Personal Information based upon consent, you may revoke consent. Please note, if you revoke your consent for the processing of Personal Information then we may no longer be able to provide you services.
  • Online Tracking. We do not currently recognize the “Do Not Track” signal.
Please note, not all of the rights described above are absolute, and they do not apply in all circumstances. In some cases, we may limit or deny your request because the law permits or requires us to do so, or if we are unable to adequately verify your identity. We will not discriminate against individuals who exercise their privacy rights under applicable law.
Submitting Requests
You may exercise the rights described above by contacting us using the contact information described below. Note that, as required by law, we will require you to prove your identity. We may verify your identity by phone call or email. Depending on your request, we will ask for information such as your name and the date of your last purchase from OCC. We may also ask you to provide a signed declaration confirming your identity. Following a request, we will use reasonable efforts to supply, correct or delete Personal Information about you in our files.
In some circumstances, you may designate an authorized agent to submit requests to exercise certain privacy rights on your behalf. If you are an authorized agent submitting a request on behalf of an individual, you must attach a letter signed by the requestor indicating that you are authorized to act on the requestor’s behalf.
Security and Confidentiality of the Website
To protect the security of the Options Industry Conference website and to ensure that the site remains available to all users, OCC employs software programs to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage to the website. OCC protects the confidentiality of your Personal Information by restricting access to our employees and agents for business purposes only in accordance with this Policy. All employees and agents are required to safeguard such information. OCC also maintains reasonable, albeit not infallible, physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to guard your Personal Information. . In the event that we are required by law to inform you of a breach to your Personal Information, we may notify you electronically, in writing, or by telephone, if permitted to do so by law.
With respect to any communications you send to us via e-mail, you should note that e-mail is not necessarily secure from interception. The e-mail address or addresses identified in the Options Industry Conference website do not have encryption capability. You should consider whether information of a particularly personal or sensitive nature is appropriate to include in an email.
Retention and Storage of Information Subject to United States Law
We may retain information provided by you, including Personal Information, for as long as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, or to achieve the purposes for which the information was originally shared. OCC is based in the United States. As a result, your information may be processed in a foreign country where privacy laws may be less stringent than the laws in your country. Nonetheless, where possible we take steps to treat Personal Information using the same privacy principles that apply pursuant to the law of the country in which we first received your information. By submitting your Personal Information to us you agree to the transfer, storage, and processing of your information in a country other than your country of residence including, but not necessarily limited to, the United States. Third party Applications and Websites. Links to third party websites are provided from this site for your convenience. Should you leave this site via such a link, the content of any third party website is not provided by OCC and thus OCC is not responsible for the content of those sites. Third party websites may collect information from or about users. OCC's Policy does not cover any such collection activities, and users are advised to review the privacy policies of those websites for information. All security measures associated with such websites and third-party services are the responsibility of  the third party who owns the website or service.
Children. OCC does not knowingly collect or use any Personal Information from users under 18 years of age. No information should be submitted to the website or conference by guests under 18 years of age.
Changes to this Privacy Policy. We continue to evaluate our efforts to protect Personal Information and to keep your Personal Information accurate and up to date. OCC reserves the right to modify its privacy principles as business needs require. Any such modifications will be effective when published to our website or provided at a conference.
